WHY THE BASEMENT?

A letter from our founder:

I have spent my life in dance.

I have competed, performed, taught and travelled the world through it. I know what it feels like when dance is taught properly — when a teacher truly sees you, understands what you need and helps you discover something in yourself that perhaps you didn’t know was there.

For years, I felt that Marbella was missing a place where dance was treated with that level of care.

Not a place only for professionals. Not a place where you need experience before you arrive.

But a real home for dance.

A place where someone taking their very first step onto a dance floor is given the same attention and respect as someone who has danced for years. Because professional standards should not mean that a place feels intimidating.

To me, they mean the opposite.

They mean being taught by people who truly know how to teach. They mean understanding that every person learns differently. They mean creating an environment where you can feel comfortable enough to try, make mistakes, laugh, improve and become more confident.

That is why we created The Basement. We wanted to bring everything we have learned from a lifetime in professional dance and make it available to everyone:

To the person who has always wanted to dance but never had the courage to begin.

To the couple who wants to share something new together.

To the child discovering movement for the first time.

To the experienced dancer looking for a place where quality matters.

To the person who simply wants more music, connection, confidence and joy in their life.

You do not need to know how to dance before you come here.

You do not need the right body, the right age, the right partner or the right level of confidence.

You only need to walk through the door.

We will meet you there.

Welcome to The Basement.

A place built by dancers, for everyone.
